INDIANA ENDURO
CHAMPIONSHIP -
Jimmy Kirby drove an uncharacteristically conservative race to
win the 125-Lap Indiana Enduro Championship at the Blossom
Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome. The Speedrome regular started
deep in the field of Hoosiers and hung back from the lead pack
while the front-runners ran into trouble. Indy's Buddy Tabor led
the opening laps from the pole only to surrender the point to
Jeffersonville's Gary Holmes and later Indy's Casey Victery. Both
encountered problems and failed to finish allowing fast qualifier
Eric Evans of Greenfield to challenge Henryville's Mike Basham,
Atlanta's Andy Shirley and Indy's Toby Eads for the front. When
those hot dogs were all cooked Kirby took over on Lap 98 of the
125-lapper and stayed out of trouble to the finish. Buddy Tabor
survived for second followed by Indy's Richard Martin, Jeffersonville's Tim
Donohoo,
Holmes, and Indy's Bill Hasson. Spiceland's John Stevens was tops
in the dash with Indy drivers Bill McClain, Jerry Green and
Fairland's Corey Turner winning qualifying heats.
