Saturdays Racing Photos

It was a big night for Bill Tunny, Jr. at the Indianapolis Speedrome as he beat the field for the night's premier Late Model Figure-8 main event. Afternoon drizzles wiped out time trials but the speeds climbed as the track improved through the night.

Red Line Graphics Late Models -

The Red Line Graphics Late Models rolled out for their opening 25-Lap oval main with R.J. Norton, Jr. just ahead of defending champ Bruce Tunny in the season's points chase. Norton busted through for the win with Rodney Sizemore right behind. Bill Tunny, Jr., Casey White and Curtis McMurtrey filled the top five with early leader David Reel out of the running with contact. Heat wins went to Rodney Sizemore and rookies Christopher Green and Ben Tunny with Jeff Shackelford topping the semi-feature.

R.J. Norton Jr. picks up the Red Line Graphic Late Model Oval Feature with some great driving.  He actually passed 8 cars in two turns to make the move and pass early race leader David Reel.  R.J. Norton Jr. your points leader for ACI Concrete and the Sawmill Saloon and Crew Chief of the year 2002 Audie Moose.

The 50-Lap Figure-8 saw Norton drop out early with problems. Bobby Douthitt moved past early leader Steve Frost only to tangle with Chris Green and park on the backstretch handing the lead to Bill Tunny, Jr. The red flag came out at halfway for a cross-over crash between Christopher Green and Casey White leaving Tunny, Frost, Jeff Hizer and Bruce Tunny bunched up for the restart. The Tunny brothers left the field and at the end it was big brother Bill in front of Bruce with Hizer, McMurtrey and Sizemore behind.


Wild Bill Tunny Jr. wins the Red Line Graphic Late Model 50 Lap Figure 8. WIld Bill wins for G & M Trucking, Big Bee's Towing and J.Greg Allen Builders. Wild Bill held off brother and three time defending track champion Bruce Tunny in the wildest race of 2003.

Chuck's Race Car Parts Outlaw Stocks -

Jack Smith was strongest in the Chuck's Race Car Parts Outlaw Stocks 25-Lap oval with Greg Snow hot on his tail. Jimmy Kirby, Kerry Wright and Brian Luttrell rounded out the top five with Luttrell and Scott McGill taking the preliminaries.

Black Jack Smith wins the Chuck's Race Car Parts Outlaw Stock 25 Lap Feature for car owner Steve Brown. Jack held off hard charging Greg Snow.

Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners -

The Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners finished out the night with a bang as David Lee Byrd spanked the field ahead of Jimmy Hardcastle and Bruiser French. Hardcastle, Toby Eads and Byrd were best in the heats. Eads held his own "Farewell Tour" as he prepares for reconstructive knee surgery and will miss a few weeks of racing.
