Fridays Racing Photos

The pits were packed for Brian's Wish Night at the Indianapolis Speedrome as six classes of stock cars joined Indy 500 racer Robby McGehee to fight Lou Gehrig's disease. Mother Nature cooperated to give race fans a hot start to the Memorial Weekend festivities.

ALL-PHASE LANDSCAPING SUPERMODIFIEDS -

Rob McCalister, Sr. set fast time and drew for the straight-up start that landed him on the pole and the early lead in the All-Phase Landscaping SuperModified feature. At lap 6 a red flag for debris slowed the field and McCalister dropped out of the race with an overheating engine. R.J. Norton, Jr. took over the helm and was never headed with Max Olmsted and Charlie Hargraves scrapping to fill up the podium. Olmsted took the dash and Cynthia Sizemore and Spike Brickley nailed the heat races.

The Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners saw William Clark crowned king of the "Wrong Way Oval" with his win in a special clockwise 20-lap "A" Main. Barry Coy and Shawn Kloss joined him on the podium. Heats were won by Shawn Eastridge, Clark and Kloss.

Bomber Figure-8 cars wrapped up the evening with Barry Tabor on top over Herb Carson and Danny Dotson. The heats went to Dotson and Tabor.

Barry Tabor picks up the Bomber Figure 8 Feature.  Danny French led with three to go but was involved in a wreck that took him out of the lead.  Barry wins for Tabor Motorsports

RED LINE GRAPHICS LATE MODELS -

The Red Line Graphics Late Models topped the show with Whiteland's Charlie Reed mastering the 25-Lap oval feature. Donnie Garrigus III, Curtis McMurtrey, Rodney Sizemore and Jeff Hizer followed for the top five. Sizemore was fastest in qualifying with Bobby Douthitt taking the Hutchison Signs Trophy Dash and Mark Tunny, Bill Tunny, Jr. and Doug Greig snagging the heat wins. Rookie Bill Fortner was best in the Last Chance Race. The 35-Lap Figure-8 began with a bang and a big pile-up under the flagstand but when the smoke cleared it was rookie Bill Fortner up in front. Fortner tangled with Christopher Green on lap five handing the lead over to Jeff Shackelford. Defending champ Bruce Tunny tracked down Shackelford three laps later and was never headed. Doug Greig followed up in second with R.J. Norton, Jr., Bill Tunny, Jr., and George Sutton rounding out the top five.

Chuck's Race Car Parts Outlaw Stocks chased Jimmy Kirby to the line for his win in the 25-Lap oval main. Kerry Wright, Greg Snow, Richard Amos and Bob Johnson finished on his tail. Heats went to Wright and Snow with Kirby fastest in qualifying.

Speedrome Hornets -

The Speedrome Hornets Feature was the wildest yet with 20 cars taking the green flag for their main event. From the standing start Paul McDougalle took the lead and despite a late race charge from the venerable Jerry Green held off the field. Shawn Chapman and points leader Bobby Keith finished out the top three. Nick Denny and McDougalle won the heats earlier in the night.
