While the west side of Indianapolis prepared for Pole Day and the Indy cars the east side settled in to another night of action at the east side's Speedrome. A new track record and new faces in the winner's circle set the tone for the racing weekend.

Congratulations to Kerry Wright for setting the Outlaw Stock track record Friday Night May 9, 2003. Kerry qualified at 14.171 breaking the track record. Congratulations to Kerry and his car owner Tony Grossi.

Brian Luttrell held off rookie Ed Brickley for the 25-Lap oval win but suffered a flat tire in the 25-Lap Figure-8. Oza Hoosier snared the "8" win over Jimmy Kirby and Corey Turner. Turner and Kirby claimed the preliminaries.


Another new winner as racing veteran Brian Luttrell won the Chuck's Race Car Parts Outlaw Stock oval as he battled Ed Brickley early on and made an outside pass and then went onto to win his first feature of 2003.  Brian wins for Luttrell Roofing and Williams roofing.  Notice Big Al Fullenkamp snuck into the victory lane picture.  Is Big Al making a comeback??

Roadrunners

The Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners saw the return of Shawn Kloss with a victory in the 20-Lap main over Kevin Ciesiolka and championship contender Toby Eads.


Shawn Kloss wins Roadrunner A feature.  Shawn passed Kevin Ciesiolka with two laps to go and Shawn becomes another different win in the Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners.

Supermodifieds

The SuperModifieds saw Johnny Hargraves capture the 50-lap Main after early race scraps buried points leaders Billy George and R.J. Norton, Jr. Joe Thurman led the pack for second with Bob Higgins, Charlie Hargraves and Fred Baumgardner, Sr. filling out the top five. Hargraves dedicated the win to his stepson Dustin Gibson who was recovering from open-heart surgery. Thurman took the dash while Higgins and Ray Evert snared the heats.


Johnny Hargraves wins the All Phase Landscaping Supermodified 50 Lap Main event.  Johnny becomes the second different winner in as many races.  Johnny made an early race pass of rookie Dale Mcpeak to win for Chuck's Race Car Parts and NASA race cars.  Johnny Be Good in victory lane.

Outlaw Stock Figure-8


The Big O.  Oza Hoosier the racing veteran picked up the Outlaw Stock 25 lap figure 8 for Crazy 8's. Oza was battling a engine problem but he becomes another different figure 8 winner as Stocks are settling in to running both Fridays and Saturdays in 2003.  Oza jumps into the points battle with this big win on Friday Night.

Speedrome
Hornets

The Speedrome Hornets division continues to grow with Robert Keith winning the main in his second career race. Pete Guipe and Brian Cantor filled the podium. Keith and points leader Scott Camhi claimed heat wins.


Bobby Keith wins the Hornet feature.  Bobby becomes the second different winner in as many weeks.  This new FWD is really taking off.  Cars begin their feature from a standing start!!

Bomber Figure-8

The Bomber Figure-8's crowned a first-time winner as Tony Hackney fought for the 15-Lap run through the "X" over Herb Carson and Barry Tabor. Rookie Dean Smith took the preliminary.


Tony Bones Hackney picks up the big Bomber Figure 8 Feature for Westside Auto Parts.  Bones picked his first ever Bomber Figure 8 Feature as he held off Herbert Carson in the main event.
