Byrider "Night at the Races"
The crowd was out for J.D. Byrider Night at the
Indianapolis Speedrome with special guests and presentations but
the big prizes went to Curtis McMurtrey, Rick Gillespie, Michael
George, Scott Tabor and George
Sutton. Over 110 cars came to race in preparation for next week's
Jakes' 150-Lap Figure-8 and the special events coming up in
several of the classes in coming weeks.

George Sutton wins the Hutchison Signs Trophy Dash for Bob's Auto Sales
and crew chief Nelson Stillwell
HEAT WINNERS - Rodney Sizemore, Casey White, Christopher Green
LAST CHANCE RACE WINNER - Donnie Garrigus III
Defending World Figure-8 Champion Curtis McMurtey became
the Speedrome's 13th different winner in 14 Oval main events
for the Red Line Graphics Late Models. Points leader R.J.
Norton, Jr. is the only racer to hit twice on the left-turn
only runs. Rookie phenom Mark Tunny chased McMurtrey to the
stripe with father Bruce Tunny, Hutchison Signs Trophy Dash
winner George Sutton and Norton right behind. Fast qualifier
Bobby Douthitt settled for sixth with heat wins going to
Rodney Sizemore, Casey White and Christopher Green. Donnie
Garrigus III bested David Reel for the win in the Last Chance
Race but struggled in the main.

Curtis McMurtrey wins the Red
Line Graphic Late Model 25 Lap Oval feature for Rolyno's Pizza
and crew chief Kent Krimmell. Curtis becomes the 13th
different winner in Late Model Oval Feature competition.

After twenty-seven years behind the wheel most racers would
be ready to pass the helmet on to the next generation. George
Sutton is ready to win more races. The Speedrome veteran came
from deep in the field to take control of the Late Model
50-Lap on the tenth lap and held off the best the Speedrome
had to offer. Sutton crossed the stripe just ahead of points
leader R.J. Norton, Jr., defending champ Bruce Tunny, Bill
Tunny, Jr. and oval winner Curtis McMurtrey.

George Suttons wins the Red
Line Graphics Late Model 50 Lap figure 8 for Bob's Auto Sales,
Auto Value Parts Stores. Fast & Furious George held off R.J.
Norton, Bruce Tunny, Wild Bill Tunny Jr. in the most intense
figure 8 of the season. George had a big lead and then Wild
Bill ran him down and created a blanket finish. George did an
incredible job holding off R.J. & Bruce.

CHUCK'S RACE CAR PARTS STOCKS
Rick Gillespie came home on top of the Chuck's Race Car
Parts Outlaw Stocks by parlaying an up front start and some
heads-up driving. Charlie Hargraves was second followed by Don
Miller, fast qualifier Greg Snow and Gary Mathes. Heat wins
went to Charlie Oakes, Miller and Ricky Amos. It was
Gillespie's first Outlaw Stock feature win in 2003 and the
seventh different winner in the division.

CAFE ROADRUNNERS
It was one of
the roughest Sunshine Cafe Roadrunner features we've had in a
while but it was just what Scott Tabor ordered as he topped the
field for the 20-Lap Main. Points leader Jimmy Hardcastle came
through the thirty-one car field for second followed by Nick
Moore, Shawn Eastridge and Bill Hasson. Sam Wilson, Todd Amos,
Michael Carson and Scott Camhi were heat winners in a night that
saw forty cars in the class.

Scott Tabor wins the Sunshine
Cafe Roadrunner Feature. Scott held off points leader Jimmy
Hardcastle in a wild race which featured 33 cars!!

HORNETS
Michael George had been the bridesmaid but never the bride
until Saturday night at the Indianapolis Speedrome. After a
rough run that saw two red flags in the 20-lap feature George
took the checkers after getting around John Fullenkamp and
Chuck McGinnis. Darrell Keith and Scott McKinney followed with
points leader down a lap in fifteenth place. Fullenkamp, Jamie
Brickley and Jerry Moore were tops in the qualifiers.
