SIZEMORE NAILS 100; BEAR TAKES LM OVAL, MILLER WINS STOCK, SAPP,WESSEL,PIERCE,ABSHER WIN FEATURES

With the 2003 Red Line Graphics Late Model title on the line Rodney Sizemore, Bruce Tunny and points leader R.J. Norton, Jr., finished nose-to-tail in Saturday's Pepsi Night 100-Lap Figure-8 at the Speedrome. Fred Bear, Jr. became the 22nd face in the LM oval main winner's circle. Don Miller returned with a vengeance. Scrapper Sapp hung tough in the Roadrunners. Over 50 Hornet cars made Howard Wessel even happier with his first win

Steve Prine wins the Last Chance race for the Red Line Graphic Late Models

Fred Bear, Jr., turned a pole shot into a win in the Red Line Graphics Late Model 25-Lap oval feature. Bear held off a spirited late charge from Bruce Tunny and George Sutton with Bobby Douthitt and Doug Greig rounding out the top five. Bill Tunny, Jr., set fast time with Curtis McMurtrey capturing another of the Hutchison Signs Trophy Dashes. Heat wins went to  Bruce Tunny, Jeff Hizer and Bob Foster, Sr., with Steve Prine twinning the Last Chance Race. Bear's win marked the twenty-second different winner in Speedrome Late Model oval features this season

Rodney Sizemore set the mark for next week's One Hour Figure-8 Endurance race with a win in the 100-Lap Red Line Graphics Late Model Figure-8. Rodney inherited the lead when Mark Tunny found the stalled car of Steve Prine while leading on lap 32. Both drivers were unharmed with Sizemore taking over on the restart. Bruce Tunny stalked Sizemore the distance while points leader R.J. Norton, Jr., stayed in their shadows waiting for something to break loose. Far back in the pack a tight struggle for fourth went side-by-side for much of the closing laps with Rich Fenwick finishing ahead of Curtis McMurtrey.

Dusty "Scrapper" Sapp proved his nickname by holding back a hard challenge from Mark Eads, Jr., in the closing laps of the 20-Lap Sunshine Cafe Roadrunner feature. Steve Grubbs came home third followed by John Collins and Bill McLain.  Heat wins went to Eads and Grubbs

CHUCK'S RACE CAR PARTS OUTLAW STOCKS -

Don Miller returned in a big way with a win in the Chuck's Race Car Parts Outlaw Stocks 25-Lap oval feature. Miller took control after an early red flag bunched the field behind leader Bill Fortner only to see Fortner get no start at the green and Miller on top. Brian Luttrell chased Miller to the checkers with Al Fullenkamp and  Jimmy Kirby right behind. Jeff Armour rounded out the top five in his 2003 debut. Corey Turner was fastest in the qualifying with Jimmy Anderson and Armour nailing the heat races.

HEAT RACE WINNERS - Joe Manuel, Mike Smith, Sr., Tim Harding, Dan Johnson, Danny Carson

Howard Wessel finally clamed his first "A" Main win in the Speedrome Hornet series taking the checkers comfortably ahead of Danny Carson, Monroe May, John Abercrombie and Tim Harding. A record number of cars meant a pair of "back-up" features with Bryan Pierce recording his career first win in the "B" Main and Darrell Absher picking up the win in the night's finale "C" Main. Heat wins went to Joe Manuel, Harding, Mike Smith, Sr., Dan Johnson and Carson. Over fifty Hornets were on hand to go racing in the division's biggest night to date.
